New technologies make a paradigm shift possible in the shipping industry towards a fully sustainable future with zero emissions. The team behind Greenships brings in various competences in order to develop new technology concepts for Container ships and Freighters/RoRo ships in order to fill an identified market need both in the Nordic and international market.
The ships will part of a sustainable goods transportation solution, where containers and trucks are moved from congested roads to sea, in a cost competitive, time efficient and more environmental friendly way.
The total technology concept is based on combining various new/refined technologies, with technology from world leading compnies:
- Innovative hull shapes – long slender hull shapes to enable reduced resistance and higher cruising speeds and/or lower fuel oil consumption.
- Innovative power plant systems and also propulsion system. Hybrid diesel electric system (batteries), modern gas turbines with WHRS, and also prepared for future fuel cell technology (Hydrogen). dual fuels (LNG, MDO and HFO).
- The aim is to fulfill IMO TIER 3 and EPA Tier 4i (US). Be able to operate on battery only in ports.
